WI longer Disney renaissance?

Just wondering what would be the effects of the Disney renaissance continuing into the 2000's.

Would more successes like Lion King and Alladin be possible?

Would handrawn animation continue to be the main type used?

On that subject, I had something else to offer up -- namely, that The Lion King could have had fewer plot holes, less issues with a "gay" Scar, and a lot creepier, all if they had kept one scene. The way I currently envision an alternate Disney Renaissance:

  • Beauty and the Beast (1991) -- winner Best Picture Oscar
  • Aladdin (1992)
  • The Lion King (1994) -- keeps the "Be Prepared" reprise scene
  • Dragon Lake (1995) -- known for absence of Disney "songs", replaced by use of ballet interludes; more or less the story of "Swan Lake", with dragons instead of swans
  • Hunchback of Notre Dame (1996) -- a dark, rather adult film for Disney (pretty much as OTL, only the talking gargoyles are essentially shown to exist only in the imagination of Quasimodo); may even get a second oscar nomination TTL ...
  • Treasure Planet (1997) -- somewhat high science fiction (more so, anyway, than what was eventually made OTL -- no sailships, 19th century clothing, ignoring air, etc)
  • Aida (1998) -- modern framing device removed, ending changed to happy one where Radames and Aida live
  • Kingdom of the Sun (1999) -- closer to the original idea behind OTL's Emperor's New Grove
  • Fantasia 2000 (2000) -- may involve different sketches
