WI Lenin A Conservative?

Some of Vladimir Lenin's early activities and experiences, including his studies in Kazan and the hanging of his elder brother for revolutionary activities, are believed to have radicalized him towards Marxism.

However, is there any way that we could push him to go the other way--towards conservatism, even a proto-fascism? What would a hard line, conservative Lenin's policies look like, and would he have been as successful in Russia as a conservative? Assuming that he would be successful, what would be the resulting path for Russia after the revolution?

Some kind of hard-line fascism? Lenin was both fanatical and pragmatic, the two most dangerous traits for dictators. I guess we'd see a much smaller Civil War, if any, then rebuilding till Russia could once again expand. Or, they'd not have lost the Western provinces to start with.

Russia would be better thought of abroad, and have less trouble with foreign investment. Agriculture would probably be more efficient, and industrialisation quicker. I'm imagining that Conservative Lenin would still be a pragmatist, rather than an old-style Slavophile, and desire strong growth and State control. Religion might also play a greater part in the New Russia, and we'd se imitators of "Ulyanovism" abroad. For you do know he wouldn't be called "Lenin" if he weren't a revolutionary, right?;)

How does Lenin get power?

Without the Party, he is a nobody.

The OP didn't specify, it merely assumed that he'd come into power. I guess you could have him enter/build up some other, right-wing movement; a reactionary Peasants' Party, perhaps, if Stolypin's reforms were more successful?

Be a bit difficult what with his brother being involved in Revolutionary politics even without his execution. Need to find a way to bring them both round really.

Regardless of Lenin's political leanings, he was westernizator, very fond of European economical and scientific achievements. So not many chances of him to become New Slavophile, methink. I see him as being somewhat right of http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Octobrist or even forming weird splinter group out of http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Constitutional_Democratic_Party (he could face significant obstacles growing through the ranks of elitist Octobrists) and growing it into powerful right-wing political machine.
