WI Lee does better in West Virginia?

What if Lee did better in his command(or was actually given real command instead of being an advisor) in West Virginia, winning the battle of Cheat Mountain and possibly destroying the whole Union force there? IRL it was his subordinates' inability to coordinate that lost the battle, but Lee refused to place blame, and was thus blamed for the failure and taken out of any real command positions until the Seven Days, as most of you know:cool:.

He could succor a line along the Ohio, destroy the break away government that would eventually be accepted into the Union as West Virginia and make that portion of Virginia an important part of the war.

With Lee in West Virginia he is a threat to Federal movement on the Ohio, to and from Washington and can provide the perfect launch point from which the Confederates could invade the North and split the Union in two.

However West Virginia didn't really grow provisions that an Army could use to feed itself with so all of Lee supplies would be coming from Virginia over the Mountains not to mention ammunition, reinforcements and weapons.

He could make himself a major threat to the Union but in the end if he can hold on to that area until the end of 1862 he will have perfromed a miracle.

Chances are even if Lee wins decisively at Cheat Mountain, the Union will just send a larger force and that'll be all she wrote.
