WI: Lebron Never Goes to Miami

July 8, 2010

"And now, the answer to the question everyone wants to know: Lebron, what's your decision?"

"This fall, I'm staying right here in my home state and continuing to play for the Cleveland Cavaliers."

Cue a bunch of kids taking the stage wearing Cavaliers jerseys. Some photos are taken. All the money is donated to the Boys & Girls Club of Cleveland. The whole program turns into a sort of mini-pep rally for the city, and Lebron becomes even more beloved in Ohio than he already was.

So, how do you guys think the ATL 2010-11 season will go? Will D-Wade stay in Miami or go to Chicago? Does any one player take over Lebron's role as the league villain (maybe Kobe?) Does the Miami Heat have a backup plan? And will Lebron ever win a ring in Cleveland?

You may want to change the title to "WI: Lebron Never Leaves Cleveland" or "WI: Lebron Never Goes to Miami", because I thought you were asking about this season, not 4 years ago

To answer the question, If you're POD is that exact moment of the televised event, then D-Wade can't really do anything about it because he's already commited with Chris Bosh to Miami. As of ATL Desicion, the Cleveland roster consists of:

Baron Davis
Delonte West
Lebron James
Antawn Jamison
Anderson Varejao

Daniel Gibson
Sebastian Telfair
J.J. Hickson
Anthony Parker
Semih Erden
Manny Harris

With a second round draft pick and the rights to their 2009 draft pick, Christian Eyenga

Not exactly a world championship team, but with Lebron, maybe it could contend for the playoff. With Lebron I'm not sure if they get rid of West and Telfair as they did OTL, because both are decent passers of the ball although at this point West started to shoot more. I think they would still need to grab another big guy off the free agent pool at this point to become contenders, but with shrinking cap space I'm not sure they can get someone. A good fit for them maybe would be Al Harrington, or Juwon Howard or Ilgauskus, but then the team would be getting kind of old in the inside. Heck, maybe even Shaq sticks around to comes back to Cleveland instead of retiring if it meant getting the chance for one more ring.

The Heat in this scenario would still be in good hands with Bosh and Wade. Nonetheless, the Heat still have huge salary cap space. Haeslem still probably resigns, with more money. The Heat probably still do well in the season, maybe even making it to the ECF. The Celtics are still strong, and the Bulls still contend as do the magic. If the Bulls played as well as they did in the OTL season i would imagine the would play against the Celtics in the Finals, mostly because the Heat and the Magic aren't good enough and the Cavs don't mathc up well against either of those teams.

So after steamrollering the Celtics, who do the Bulls face in the Finals?

They get slaughtered by the Spurs when Rose shreads his ACL :p

No, they probably play the Spurs or the Mavs. Both play against Kobe well and the Thunder are too young to make it to the finals. In the WCF it's a toss up because at this point the Mavs don't stink yet and the Spurs' Big 3 are still decently old and they still don't have a young standout guy to make up for it. If the Spurs make it, they win in 6 or 7. If the Mavs get to the final, the Bulls win in 6. This is all barring injury, by the way.

You sick son of a bitch. I hope that Bill Simmons's conspiracy theory is right, and that the Bucks really are going to Seattle. :p

If Rose gets injured, Celtics vs Mavs, and Dirk manages to beat Garnett in 6. The Mavs were just a tough team to bet against that year.
