WI: League Championship like in Football in the NBA?

In football leagues around the world, alongside a domestic tournament where the teams face each other for the chance to earn a trophy, there’s also the league championship that is earned by the best team overall through points accrued throughout the season.

Can something like that occur in the NBA where the best team with the highest amount of wins is awarded a trophy that is considered one of the highest honors possible?

The NHL has its President's Cup, but its prestige is nothing compared to the Stanley Cup.

This would take a major shift in the culture of the NBA to make a regular season title meaningful. Many teams are willing to accept lower seeds in the playoffs if it means their players are healthy and rested.
