WI Latin Bloc was formed in the 1930's?

What if an actual, durable Latin Bloc was formed during the 1930's with (at least) Italy, France, and Spain?

the 1934 attempts in France bring (for argument's sake) Petain to power, and the 1936 coup in Spain is successful without a protracted civil war.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Latin_Bloc_(proposed_alliance) later proposal https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Latin_Axis_(World_War_II)

my primary interest would be fate of Portugal, whether they and/or their empire are absorbed by Spain and/or their allies?

and, of course, the effects on (any) WWII, not the least what regime comes to power in Germany and what would be the relations of UK to a powerful (at least to appearances) Latin Bloc.

cannot imagine German-Italian relations would resemble historical events, an invasion of Ethiopia likely supported by other Latin Bloc members, so little need for German support? also no Spanish Civil War to bring the two closer together.

Though it does not exist in this TL, it would have been interesting seeing a Romance-speaking Dalmatia survive to the present day as a contiguous nation directly linking Italy and Romania.

However unlikely the following is it am also fascinated by the idea of an Allied Latin Bloc, due to the presence of France likely precluding the other Latin Bloc nations from remaining neutral (or neutral yet later opportunistically pro-Allied).

Two of the largest factors linking the "Latin" countries together are Roman Catholicism and the Mediterranean Sea. Because of this Romania can never truly be considered part of the Latin cultural world despite speaking a Romance language.

of course the whole concept is unworkable due to France and Italy pursuing their own agendas? however with authoritarian, if not all three Fascist, regimes in power another dynamic occurs?

Italy would not gravitate towards Germany, France does not pursue as strong relations with UK (and only cool relations with USSR?)

Germany whatever regime in power would have to deal with fellow pariah state of USSR? maybe a second-rate version of League of Three Emperors, German-Hungary-USSR forms?

Mussolini's plan for Romania was to enlist them in Quadruplice with Italy, Bulgaria, and Hungary(!), if there had been Latin Bloc there would have been little need to bring the latter two revisionist countries into the scheme.

His plan was to supplant France, but here they would be allied.

Plínio Salgado had a plan to built a latim american bloc to counter american influence, of which he classified as atheist, capitalist, liberal and decadent. If you get the lusitan integralists in power instead of Salazar and Salgado somehow get's elected in Brazil you can get this ultranatinalist fundamentalist bloc to be formed.

Inviting Romania brings the alliance into unnecessary conflict with the USSR, Hungary, and Bulgaria for little gain.

was not speculating they would invite Romania into Latin Bloc but with France and Italy receiving much of their oil from Romania, and a general anti-Communist bent they would seek the most influence over the country.

the Latin Bloc might well be TTL's Anti-Comintern Pact? with the German regime forced closer to USSR (even if unwillingly)
