WI Late Schmalkaldic War

What if the Schmalkaldic War had happened ten years later, after the abdication of HRE Charles V? This would have placed the war under the control and purview of his younger brother, Ferdinand. Ferdinand was known to be a much less confrontational than his older brother, and this could embolden the Lutheran princes in their resolve to remove themselves from a Catholic empire under control of the Pope.

So, do you guys think a POD of the Schmalkaldic War occurring ten years later could be interesting? I feel as if it would accelerate the unification of Germany and possibly lead to a vicious power struggle of Catholicism and Protestantism very early in European history.

But the Lutheran princes were already angered and felt that they did not want to remain a part of a Catholic empire ruled by the Holy Roman Emperor (especially a Spaniard ruling from afar). It could accelerate Prussian and Austrian pushes for autonomy.
