WI: Labor party in the US?

The United States never had a Labor-oriented party like the ones in Europe. But what if they did? Would it be successful? Would they win an election? Would they overtake a party, causing their rivals to be either Republicans or Democrats but not both? Or would they just be irrelevant?

They did. It merged with the Farmers and became Farmer-Labor (and later the Federated Farmer-Labor and Minnesota Farmer-Labor), which is the Party that is best to be in a position to succeed. For them to see succeed, you need them to replace the Democrats in the 20's (which isn't too hard, given how fragile the Democrats were in the 1920's), and have the Party purge communists from its ranks in 1924. La Follette not running in '24 would also help them during this period.
