I consider the movie and improvement over the book, I slogged through it because I was sure in a book that big there had to be a story in there somewhere. Boy was I mistaken!
Back on track, this would have had one repercussion that Parson would have not had Hubbard for the 'great working' nor been ripped off by him which may mean he actually isn't dead in this TL as he would not have been so desperate for money. Granted he's probably still lost his security clearance but he might have a chance to get it back and may not fall as deeply into the occult as OTL without Hubbard's influence.
