What if he was captured or killed in rotterdam? By the time that the city was bombed, the germans were running out of ammo and supplies, and were on the brink of surrender. Later during a meeting discussing the surrender, SS soldiers marched up to the square where it was held. And upon seeing a large force of dutch soldiers, they opened fire. Kurt student was hit with a bullet in the head, and was only able to survive through the skill of a Dutch surgeon.

I've wondered about the reverse. A healthy Student has the strength and stamina to convince Hitler for a Crete style invasion of southern England right after Dunkirk. I believe he argued for this at the time with Hitler, and perhaps if he was in full health might have been able to convince Hitler to do this. It would have been a fiasco of course, but might have made for some hair raising exploits.
I guess the question of a dead Student brings up the question of who would take over his command of paratroopers, and how important his role was in the decision to invade Crete.
