WI Kubrick Made Napoleon

CT'ers have to struggle

One of the fixed beliefs of the Moon Hoax conspiracy theorists is that Kubrick shot all the lunar footage. Part of their "proof" is that he wasn't doing any movie work during the period in question.

In the real world (as opposed to the CT world) he was doing research and trying to raise funding for Napoleon. If he actually did the movie, the CT'ers would have to find some other movie guy. (George Pal? Ray Harryhausen?)

Not that they wouldn't do it, understand, but they would have to devote some of their limited resources to finding a remotely credible guy.

Side thought: As you know, Bob, the French film-maker Abel Gance had proposed a huge series on the life of Napoleon -- six films, each five to six hours long. Only one was made, Napoléon (1927). Now if Kubrick 1) rediscovered the movie 2) gave Gance and Albert Dieudonné, his star as Napoleon (both of them were still alive then!) cameo roles . . .

The problem is, Kubrik seems serious on history, and if you go by what we know, younger Napoléon was actualy reasonably sized and quite the looker. So...

Maybe the guy who did the main guy in Clockwork Orange, older?

I see Malcolm McDowell in a supporting role, perhaps playing Marshall Ney.

Moved to after 1900. Alternate History Books and Media does not mean alternate history about books and media, but books and media about alternate history.

Maybe not as young Napoleon... But I think of the older man now, and he fit for later Napoleon.

Take a lok at Hopkins in the 70s. I think he would be great for Napoleon in his glory days. He has that round head, that Napoleon seems to have in some paintings.

I never knew about Kubrick's Napoleon. Oh God, this and the original plan for the Matrix are going to haunt me for the rest of my life.

Think what could have been!

What was the original plan for The Matrix? As for me, I can do without Barry Lyndon. Either have Kubrick make Napoleon at the time he would've made Barry Lyndon, or make Napoleon after 2001 and push back A Clockwork Orange. Personally, I'd prefer the former. Also would like to see 2001 get Best Picture and Best Director, in addition to Best Screenplay and give Geoffrey Unsworth an award for Best Cinematography. Does anybody know what would be the effect of a 2001 Best Picture win instead of Oliver?

It depends on the timing. Malcolm McDowell and Antony Burgess got really pissed off at Kubrick for the way he hung them out to dry promoting Clockwork Orange. If it ends up happening after Clockwork gets made, Kubrick would have a hell of a lot of ass kissing to do to get Mal. Probably wont happen
