Modern-day borders of former Yugoslavia equal the boundaries of the former republics of Yugoslavia, as the Badinter commission then concluded.
The inner boundaries of the SFRY were created by Tito after World War II to create a balance between the peoples. One republic for each people, Slovenia, Croatia, Bosnia-Hercegovina, Serbia, Montenegro and Macedonia. In 1974 autonomous provinces Vojvodina and Kosovo were established. The official reason why Kosovo didn't become an equal republic was "because the Albanians already had an ethnic homeland with the Republic of Tirana".
So let's say Tito had decided else and upgrades the Kosovo to a ful SR. Would Kosovo be as recognized as the other former SRs? Or would we still see the Serbs bitching around for Kosovo?
