WI: Korean War in the 1960s

Let's say that OTL's Korean War between 1950-1953 never happened, and instead happened sometime in the 1960s. How differently would the course of this war go? Would this draw attention away from Vietnam? Would this potentially avert the Sino-Soviet Split?

Depends. Does the Soviet Union still back/give approval for the North to attack the South? The Soviet leaders of 60's were not Stalin. Does the U.S. provide weapons and training to the South?

The Soviets and the Chinese permit North Korea to invade South Korea and the United States provides weapons and training to South Korea. Not sure if it would be a UN Coalition though.

What happened to Taiwan in the meantime. Unless the US interposed the 7th fleet, the Chinese would have tried to invade it.

Without the experience of the American stand in the Korean war, the Communist side may support Ho Chi Minh until France agrees to give up all Vietnam, and has a harder time arguing he has to accept half a loaf for now.

Pretty good chance for WWIII, if it happens in October 1962, if butterflies don't change what's going on in Cuba.

However, without a Korean War, Japan's economy doesn't get the OTL jumpstart
