WI: King Alexander doesn't get bitten by monkeys?

In 1920 the Treaty of Sevres was signed wawarding Greece considerable lands, which were taken from the Ottoman Empire. In the following Greek-Turkish War, Greece failed to destroy the Kemalist State and in the end got kicked out of Minor Asia, Eastern Thrace and some islands in the Aegean.

A primary reason for the Greek failure was political unrest following the death of pro-Entente King Alexander, who was bitten by 2 monkeys. He was followed by pro-German King Constantine.
The following change in government with Venizelos losing power led to purges, unrest within the armed forces and shift of Entente aid from Greece to Turkey.

Could the Greeks have beaten the Turks with the aid of Entente, weakening the Kemalist government, gaining more soil from Turkey and in the end come to peace with a much more weakened Turkey?

Or would Venizelos be wise enough to end the war, after seeing the Greeks could not sustain the attrition inflicted upon them, and simply form a defensive posture around the new territories gained?
In OTL there were plans to build a Maginot-type line around Izmir to protect the new lands conquered there.

The Greeks wanted the Megalist project to succeed and would fight hard for it, the same way the Turks really wanted their own nation. it's hard to say who'd win if Greece was more stable. Perhaps some kind of alliance with the Armenians could have been possible, if they weren't busy of fighting the Azeris and Georgians only to be annexed by the Soviets.

Gounaris a fierce Royalist and staunch opponent of Venizelos campaigned in the general elections of November 1920 promising to end the war and keep the occupied grounds in Asia Minor...
However when he got elected as PM over Venizelos he ordered the continuation of war exhausting the already tired army and provoking Entente that way...

So, let's say that King Alexander does not die.
France+Britain+Italy continue their support for Greece against the Turks.

Venizelos realises that he cannot beat the Turks and he can no loger ignore the public's calls for disengagement from the Small Asia Campaign.

The Greeks decide to stop their advance against the Turks. They fall back and start constructing defensive postures along the Izmir Zone borders. At the same time several new thrusts using landing troops are undertaken against Turkish territories along the Aegean.
By mid 1921 the Greeks manage to capture all major cities along the Aegean coast of Turkey and secure zones of control around them. Small Asia is effectively cut in half. Venizelos decides to build a lighter version of the Maginot Line along the Eastern border of the new territories.
A counterattack by the Turks in 1922 is beaten back with big losses on the Turkish side mainly due to Greek artillery provided by the Entente.
An agreement is reached in 1923 for the exchange of populations between Greece and Turkey.

So what happens next...
