WI KBH seeks the Texas governorship in 2006?

According to the NYT, she considered doing that instead of running for a third term but donors persuaded her that Perry would retire in 2010. So let's say she ignores them and goes for it. Given how vulnerable Perry was that year, could she unseat him? If she does, presumably she serves till 2014. What does her administration look like and which Republican replaces her in the Senate?

She defeats Perry, and is replaced by someone with the same ideology. No real difference. I guess the most interesting thing would be Rand Paul. Yuck.

Maybe the Right actually gets a proper challenge to Romney though. Barbour?
