WI: Karl May writes science fiction for young readers?

Karl May is a highly influencial German writer, having written primarily between the late 19th and early 20th centuries.

IOTL May primarily wrote adventure novels set in the east or (as he is perhaps most famous for) the American wild west. Many were popular among generations of younger German speaking readers.

WI in the last years of the 19th century, inspired by German Wilhelm Conrad Röntgen's inaugural Nobel prize victory for his work on x-rays, May began writing science fiction stories in the vein of Jules Verne's work IOTL?

What effect would these novels have on the German culture of the 20th century? & Perhaps most importantly: would they inspire a certain (se attested to IOTL) Austrian fanboy of May's to act differently in his adult life as German dictator?

Ahemmm - Those novels you mention are probably his most famous (nowadays) ...

But he was also writing "other" stuff (not necessarily better) - you might check out his "kolportageromane" but he also wrote educational wor, crime, humorous stuff or even educational stuff...

no scifi I know of ;)

I don't really see any meaningful changes to German culture, or to Hitler's behavior in the 20th century. By far and away the most influential thing on his psyche was Versailles and the political instability of Germany following WWI.
