WI: Justice league film in 1992

Say encouraged by the success of Batman 1989 and viewing it as an opportunity to reboot Superman. Warner Bros decides to do a Justice league movie in 1992 instead of batman returns. Set in the same continuity as Batman 1989 with Tim Burton as the director.

How commercially successfully would a 1992 Justice league film be.

How would this effect DC films and TV shows.

How would this impact Superhero genre as a whole.

This isn't likely since the whole idea of an expanded superhero movie universe wasn't in vogue yet, and the Superman franchise had only been bead for five years. Further the Superman character was declining in popularity: Superman comics actually weren't selling well in the early 1990s - that's why DC decided to do "The Death of Superman."

From a financial standpoint, it makes much more sense to do a direct sequel to their highly profitable hit movie than take such a risky move as produce a Justice League film.

There were cinematic universes before the MCU and a cinematic universe does seem a natural outgrow of a superhero team given you have both team up stories and ones for the individual members.

Wouldn't a darker reboot of Superman be seen as a way to reinvigorate interest in the character

Wouldn't tying it to a hit movie be a way of encouraging interest

In '92, there's an issue of "Which Justice League?", isn't there? (Or have I pushed that too early?) Do you go after the "classic" JLA the Boomers know, or try & get the younger audience & do a film JLI?

I imagine you'd start the JLA as it has the more iconic characters or maybe mix of the two.
