One of the most interesting aspects of history was the creation of Brasília as the capital of, well, Brazil. In most of the Brazilian constitutions during its history, such a national capital was mentioned; however, in practice, until the 1960s Rio de Janeiro was the capital. The Brasília that eventually came to life was essentially a showpiece of modernist architecture by Oscar Niemeyer, who designed many of the original buildings in the city, with Lucio Costa, Niemeyer's mentor, conceiving the master plan for the city. Now, the building of Brasília took place under the watch of Juscelino Kubitschek. WI Kubitschek decided not to go ahead with the plan to build Brasília instead? What would be the consequences?
