WI: John Sayles' version of Jurassic Park 4 had been made?

You can read the entire leaked script here if you want, but to summarise;

  1. Movie begins with dinosaurs attacking people on the mainland, particularly Compies in Costa Rica and pterodactyls (possibly the ones from the last scene of JP3) attacking a baseball game
  2. John Hammon hires an ex-military dude called Nick Harris to return to Isla Nublar and get the dino-DNA left behind by Dennis Nedry so that a new creature can be created specifically to kill the escaping dinosaurs
  3. However, this is a secret project because not only does Hammond not control InGen, but the company has lost control of the island to some evil Swiss company called Grendel International Corporation
  4. Nick gets on Nublar and experiences some s h e n a n i g a n s while trying to get ahold of the barbasol can. including being attacked by sea reptiles and raptors which behave like trapdoor spiders
  5. Nick ends up getting captured and KOd, then transported to a castle in Switzerland where Grendel International Corporation (GIC from now on, for the sake of length) is situated and agrees to work with them, but refuses to give up information about the barbasol can due to it being his only bargaining chip
  6. Nick ends up finding that GIC has been creating genetically modified dinosaurs - particularly deinonychus spliced with human and dog DNA which can camoflauge. These raptors are all named after classic Greek mythology and are (sort of) controlled with chemicals via some devices on their head
  7. Nick ends up training these raptors for use in warfare and they are used to take out a bunch of terrorists holding a girl hostage in Tangiers to resounding success, though one of them tests the limits of how much freeom it has in a later training session and almost gets put down because of it
  8. Nick, who has been building up something of a relationship with a female scientist called Maya, gets threatened by the leader of GIC, Baron von Drax, into giving up the location of the barbasol can in exchange for the life and freedom of Maya after the completion of the next mission
  9. Eventually the deinonychus, along with some similarly controlled dilophosaurs (or chlymidosaurus as the script says they've been renamed) that are also named in reference to Greek mythology and an unnamed ankylosaurus, are sent to take out a hostage-holding druglord in South America while several 'investors' watch on to determine whether they're interested in the 'product'
  10. The dinosaurs, which where parashuted in w/ guns attached, are brutally successful but things go south when they tear off their controlling gizmos and flee into the jungle - its also revealed that Nick replaced the dino embryos with DNA from some frogs
  11. All the main characters, along with a bunch of other GIC employees, drive out into the jungle to assess the situation when they get ambushed by the dinos. The main baddies die along with the 'main raptor' Achilles, leaving Nick and Maya alive
  12. Nick reveals that he'd already sent the DNA to Hammond and sets up another sequel by essentially saying "we'll have to wait and see what ends up happening to it"

As you can see, some of the main ideas and themes from the script (which may have come from previous scripts) ended up making their way into Jurassic World, but in very different ways. So how do you think things would have gone if this version of Jurassic Park 4 had been released in, say, the Summer of 2005?

PS. It should be noted that, while later scripts written by Sayles after this one was leaked supposedly had much wackier stuff like raptor-human hybrids that looked like really fucked up duded w/ guns for arms, its not actually known how much of this is true and, regardless, the version I'm specifically asking about here is the one from the leaked script.

I feel that the Sayles' script was an influence on or partial inspiration for Jurassic World and especially Fallen Kingdom, what with the efforts to create militarised dinosaurs. People have already disliked the dino hybrid plotlines in the OTL films. A film based on the Sayles' script, had it been made, would have been critically torn to shreds. It sounds like an 80s B movie ("merc/vet goes to shoot up Colombian drug lords, also random science fiction element..."), not something still largelly in line with the JP series.

that's no grand revelation--the Jurassic Park community, myself included, has known that for a long time

just as a head's up, this is all i'll be saying in this thread for the time being. somehow, i still haven't seen Fallen Kingdom yet and am trying to maintain my blackout on it until i do, so i won't come back to this thread until then to avoid any possible spoilers.

I'd consider it as much of a dumpsterfire as Dino Resident Crisis Evil II: Fat Bearded Guy's Poorly Thought Out Multicross Fanfic (whoops, meant Jurassic World 2: Fallen Kingdom) and pan it for the sheer idiocy and ineptitude of trying to force war dinos to be a thing.

I'm only happy that the movie is actually less dumb than this script, since if you can already clone dinos... then you don't need that can.

That seems a bit excessive. I don’t think people usually try to murder breeders of attack dogs.
