WI: John Kennedy Ran in New York

Kennedy ran in the Massachusetts 11th congressional district in 1946. However, he said he felt a little like a carpetbagger, as he had not had close ties to the district in years, and the 11th tended to resent the Harvard elite. I believe the statement was that he had closer ties to New York in those years than the 11th district. Assuming that, what if John Kennedy ran for political office in New York rather than Massachusetts?

Riskier, as both House and Senate seats tended to lean more Republican in New York then plus the Kennedy's via Joe Sr, his father and Rose's father in Honey Fitz (former Mayor) had strong Boston connections which made JFK such a favourite

Not necessarily the sole scenario in this thought experiment, but I was considering the idea that Joe Kennedy survives WW2, and Joe Sr. still presses John Kennedy to run for office, or John Kennedy still seeks the office on his own.

Less likely that Joe Sr would press JFK to run if Joe Jr was already in Congress, but plausible at least. Unlikely that JFK would seek it on his own as a big motivation of him running for Congress in 1948 was Joe Jr's death and Joe Sr's pushing, JFK originally desired to be a journalist and/or diplomat, not serving in elected office.
