WI: Joan of Arc lives... and becomes a fearsome Catholic Amazon Warlord-Conqueress?

What if Joan of Arc had not been captured by the Burgundians and goes on to fight the Hundred Years War and later lead a French crusader force against the Hussites in the closing stages of the Hussite Wars?

What long and illustrious military and political career (which is what I imagine she will have) awaits her if she lives a normal lifespan? What other wars could she be involved in, or involve France in for that matter? Could she start wars and crusades of her own? Maybe come to the aid of the Hungarians against the Turks?

I'm looking for conflicts or potential conflicts (aside from battles and campaigns that are part of the Hundred Years War) in between the decades of the 1430's and the 1460's-ish, particularly ones that have to do with Catholicism.

Rather implausible. Joan seemed to operate on the principle that her time was but short; and though she threatened action against the Hussites the war against England was far from won. True, the Loire Campaign was the turning point of the HYW, but there was still much to do.

And ultimately Joan was an inspirational figure who fought very well, rather than an expert military leader.

I'm unsure whether she'd continue fighting after the English were driven out of France, even assuming she survived. Remember, she kept saying that when the saints' work for her was finished, she'd be glad to return home. Of course, (the saints could tell her to continue) / (she could always change her mind).

I'm also doubting whether France would be willing to send a crusader force against the Hussites. Would their budget be able to sustain it immediately after the war? I could easily imagine some half-rogue mercenaries going, but would she be willing to lead them rather than wait and try to recruit a stronger, better-authorized, and better-disciplined force?

There's also the issue of the king-noble conflicts; the Hundred Years War was ultimately the French crown telling an ambitious vassal (who, due to medieval complications, also happened to be a kingdom itself) that it could shove it and that its claim on the throne was rather pointless.

And even after the HYW the kings had to deal with squabbling vassals, even those from the king's own family (see the rivalry of Louis XI and Charles the Bold).

I rather think that ultimately if Joan had survived, she would have eventually fallen to court intrigue. After all she had no noble lineage, no real backing, and was showing up a lot of nobles as incompetant, weak or scared. There were a lot at court who resented her influence, and viewed her as an upstart. She would be dispensed with as soon as the French were in the ascendancy and could survive without her.

That's also probably why Charles VII didn't bother rescuing her - would be too much trouble, and might make dealing with Burgundy harder.

That's the opposite of what I've found in my research. Joan was an inspirational figure who was a successful tactician and engaged in little actual combat. Unless you mean "fought" in a broader sense.

I was thinking of strategic considerations. My bad.

Though it's amazing - a young peasant girl besting the English, themselves led by hardened captains (granted, both sides were).

As if Joan of Arc's life wasn't romantic enough. With this and the past threads on making her Queen of France one could almost mistake her for a Disney Princess. (Speaking of which, I would not mind an animated Disney movie on Joan or Arc.)

Unfortunately, I must agree with the other posters. Joan was an exceptional figure, however her lack of noble backing and ambition after the war makes this what if difficult. She likely would have been disposed of as quickly as possible. Too much trouble for the French, sadly.

At some point after The Raptor of Spain I am going to do a Jehanne TL since I am a fanboy of hers. Despite that, she would have admonished me for heresy being a protestant and maybe tried to kill me, but you take the bad with the good.

I think it's possible she can survive if you can 1. Get rid of Tremouille and 2. Tie her more tightly to the Papacy.

No. Don't give Disney ideas; you'll be reducing an awesome figure into a product, like what they did with Che!:p

Tremouille had the king's ear, but then again the more pro-Joan camp was probably glad at his leaving the court.

And I bet that she'd be shocked at how far even the Catholic Church has gone in seven centuries. ;)

I think she should be a nun.
