WI: JFK Did Not Die

OK, we know the WI JFK did not get shot stories. Now what if he did get shot, but he did not die. Suppose the bullet hit somewhere, and Kennedy became permanently paralyzed, what would happen then?

How paralyzed is he? Is he just paralyzed physically or is he in a coma?

The same thing that happened in 1881 when James Garfield was shot would happen to JFK/LBJ. Garfield didn't die for almost 90 days, and for most of that time he was conscious and even able to talk and write letters. Granted, he wasn't hit in the head like Kennedy was OTL, but if your POD is Kennedy getting hit somewhere else then the same thing applies. Kennedy, like Garfield, would have been President as long as he could function as such. If he was paralyzed, or put in a coma, LBJ would probably have temporarily taken over.

JFK was very sick: the Addison's disease

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Addison's_disease

he took steroids, testosterone and alot cortisone against the disease
(the side effect gave him a "bull-like" libido )
also he suffers of heavy Back problems, JFK took a lot painkiller
http://www.doctorzebra.com/Prez/g35.htm

most of problems were treated by "Dr" Max Jacobson aka "Dr. Feelgood" or "Miracle Max"
he gave Kennedy injections with a miracle drugs (secret recipe: amphetamines and painkillers ! )

he take during Cuba Missile crisis :

Tuinal

Seymour Hersh's "The Dark Side of Camelot" (1998)
presents a critical analysis of the Kennedy administration,
stating that Kennedy "was probably one of the unhealthiest men ever to sit in the Oval Office."

i think even had he survives Dallas in 1963
he had died during second term 1964-1968.

This has been heavily disputed, and in spite of all his problems I do not believe he dies in a second administration. I think his illness starts to become obvious sometime late in a second administration (1967-1968), he will also likely be plagued with stories of his extramarital affairs floating all over the place. In the end, JFK will not have the same legacy. He might still be a popular president, but not after he leaves office, sort of a Truman incident.

If JFK lives, the GOP nominee wins 1968 over LBJ. Kennedy IMO will likely live until the early to mid 1970s, only after his death will the Americans look at his presidency in a more positive light.
