WI: JFK conspiracy theories accepted as fact

Oswald probably wouldn't have admitted to it anyway. He'd have used the stand as a soapbox for ideology "The US government is conspiring against me because I am a member of the Communist party.". He'd probably have supported the conspiracy theories too, like Sirhan Sirhan does. But he would have been convicted.

Didn't Oswald defect to the USSR? In that case, he would be a foreigner who killed the American President (or considered a traitor by many instead). That's all the reason some Texans would need for revenge.

Case Closed.

Of course there WAS a conspiracy around Lincolon's murder, if a very incompetent one.
And it was found out and the members tried. That's what happens with real conspiracies. You can't cover it up.

Yes, although I don't believe he ever gave up US citizenship or was fully accepted by the Soviets.
But you're right, the Texans will probably send him to the chair, or at least try.

the inability of far more skilled marksmen to achieve his results in recreations make me doubt he was alone

You apparently missed the Mythbusters episode. :p They pretty easily accomplished similar results.

It was only 88m IIRC. Movement was slow and predictable. That's a very easy shot.

I'm not a conspiracy theorist and don't particularly buy this one; but I've got to say, on the Zapruder film it sure looks like the last shot hit Kennedy from the front. Not that I'm any great expert.
