WI: Jesse Ed Davis didn't die?

This one may be kind of obscure for people not fans of blues guitarmen...

Jesse Ed Davis played with Taj Mahal's band, & John Lennon considered him one of the best he'd ever heard. He played the guitar solo on Jackson Browne's "Doctor, My Eyes", cold, in one take.:cool::cool::cool:

He got hooked on heroin during a tour with Rod Stewart & Faces.

So, what would it take for him not to go on that tour?

One possible butterfly: Grafitti Man never happens, & John Trudell remains an unknown--since they met as a result of Davis being in rehab.

Always a shame when one of the greats dies young.
Agreed.
Didn't he play on #9 Dream?
I have to confess, I picked this up from a TV doc on Native Americans in music, not because I'm a particular fan. (I will be looking for his work in future, tho. Anybody who can play that solo at all...)

I also take the view, anybody that good should be saved.:)
