WI: Japanese victory at the Battle of Midway?

What if the Japanese had won a crushing victory the battle of Midway while taking only light/moderate losses? how would this affect future naval operations of the pacific theatre?

Is it a crushing victory? ie loss of the entire Yorktown class & aircraft and aircrews. TF1 badly mauled in a fleet action with the IJN Main Body. The initial landing repulsed and then Saratoga lost in the relief operation when the Japanese try again?

Japanese losses are light.

Only if the IJN “roll all 6’s” and USN “rolls all 1’s.”
And if Fletcher and Spruance ignore their priorities.

Regardless, Japan gains, at the absolute most, 6 months before surrendering.

If the US suffers significant losses in the Pacific does Torch go ahead?
Most likely. Europe always had priority over the Pacific and most of the ships used were either British or second line units or troop ships and wouldn't be of much use in a pacfic theater where America is on the defense with the possible exception of the USS ranger and even then all she would have to do is protect the landing for a week before land based aircraft could be brought in to protect the braches before transferring to the pacfic.

Watchtower would be dropped. The IJA would be wanting to push south to isolate Australia so that it couldn’t be used as a base to take back the Dutch East Indies. The IJN would want Hawaii eliminated as a base for the Central Pacific drive.
August 1945 - B36’s start dropping A bombs on Japanese cities.
