I was wondering what would happen if Temujin (Genghis Khan) didn't succeed in uniting the Mongols, but rather lost out to his ally, and later rival, Jamukha.
Jamukha was at one point a serious rival with Temujin in uniting the Mongol tribes. Jamukha commanded his own coalition of tribes that managed to inflict several defeats on the coalition of tribes led by Temujin. He even took the title Gur Khan (universal ruler).
Jamukha ultimately failed to capitalise on the defeats he inflicted on Temujin though, and was eventually betrayed and turned over to Temujin by some of his followers.
If Jamukha had succeeded in uniting the Mongols instead of Temujin how might history be altered?
Would the united Mongols under Jamukha still sweep over Asia, the Middle East and Eastern Europe?
Would Jamukha be as successful as Genghis Khan in establishing an empire?
Would the name Gur Khan be as well known as Genghis Khan is in OTL?
