Hello, Will kurlich Kell!
If James V didn't die, he would curb the power of Arran and the Lennoxes. Henry VIII would still invade Scotland in this TL. James V might have a son but given his luck(two dead sons, one daughter) he might end up with only Mary and perhaps another daughter. Still, he could also legitimize one of his bastards....
In such a TL, I don't see James just selling his daughter to the French. He might seek a more powerful ally against England and go for the Hapsburgs but I doubt that. he might even be forced to ally with England.
Given the mortality rate for Scottish kings named James, Mary would ascend to the throne in her late teens at best. Thankfully, she would be better placed to deal with the barons and might marry herself off to some powerful European ruler or heir. In such a TL, Scotland would most likely remain Catholic..
If James has a son, James VI, then I see him marrying Elizabeth or Mary I. However, he could still marry a French or Spanish princess.
