WI James I of Scotland Is Not Captured

When Robert III of Scotland's son, David of Rothesay was murdered by the Duke of Albany, Robert sent his second son, the future King James I of Scots to the French court fir safekeeping. However, James I was captured by English pirates and held prisoner by the English for 17 years until he was released by Henry V. When James returned to Scotland, he repressed the Lordship of the Isles and the MacDonald clans.

What if James I wasn't captured and was raised in France, not England? Who would he marry? How would his personality change? What if?

PS:Not James I of England!!!!

Well, if I wanted to be sarcastic; I would say that this question does not deal with Hitler, WW1 or the United States, and so no one wants to touch it ;)

Seriously, though, although I'm just reading a History of Scotland, I don't have anything to add at this point. I may well in the future. But, I did want t bump this, so others would see it!

I'm interested, but I find it hard to keep REAL Scottish history straight, let alone pretend history.

Yeah, I guess most of us have too little knowledge to meaningfully add to this. Hoping to be proven wrong.

Most likely he marries some French princess - although there would probably be some concern as to how certain his succession to Scotland would be, Charles VI had enough daughters to be fairly liberal with at least one of their marriages. Maybe princess Marie (born 1393) or Isabella, Richard II's widow, end up as his Queen.

Know nothing about his personality but he would most likely father heirs and return home a lot sooner.
