WI: Jadwiga of Poland was born male

I can see Jogaila ending up marrying Uliana of Tver, leading to a Gediminid-ruled "Russia" with either Polotsk, Kiev or even Smolensk as the capital. However, Moscow would have to be destroyed.

Wouldn't she probably inherit both Poland and Hungary earlier?

Correct me if I'm wrong, but she was the daughter of Louis I of Hungary and Poland.

In OTL the realms were divided between his two daughters (Jadwiga and Mary). In this timeline, this ALT son would stand a chance of inheriting all his fathers domains.

EDIT: However, if I remember the books I read correctly, it was the Polish magnates that really pushed for the seperation between Poland and Hungary. They wanted a King IN Poland, not out of it like Louis. In this TL, they might opt for Mary instead, but that'd probably spark a war.

On the other hand, the Poles had never been fond of Sigismund, Mary's husband. Mary, like Jadwiga, died without issue. So even if the Poles opt for Mary and get out of it without a war (doubtfull), nature might just plop it back into this ALT son's hands again.

I think Mary would marry Siemowit of Plock and cancel her betrothal to Sigismund of Luxembourg..

So to sum up what I just posted, you have two options out of Jadwiga being male.

A continued Polish-Hungarian union, or Sigismund using Mary to but into the succession and leading to a Bohemian-Polish union.

I might put the money on the ALT son getting the Polish throne. The Poles would be dealing with what they might view as two foreign kings (Louis II or Sigismund) so they'd probably still opt for the male heir.

It might not stop Sigismund from trying, and if this Louis II is shit in the field, Sigismund could force the issue in his favour.

Why though? Wouldn't a marriage to the family of the Holy Roman Emperor's be more favourable?

Like I mentioned, if Sigismund played his card's right, it could lead to a Polish-Bohemian union.

He is the Grandson of Casimir III..I think if he was not allied to Teutonic Order, it would have been better..he could use the fact that he is descended from Casimir III as a propaganda.

Like I said earlier, this might have a big effect on Lithuania since Jogaila would be forced to marry someone else, and with that, Lithuania's choosing between Catholicism and Orthodoxy.

This could alter the French succession down the road, assuming the son of Louis I of Hungary and Poland himself has many male descendants.
