WI: Jack Clark got resigned from Wheel of Fortune instead of Pyramid

Merv's Resign of Jack Clark from Wheel
  • Jack Leslie Clark (November 25, 1925 – July 21, 1988) was an American television game show host and announcer. He is best known for hosting The Cross-Wits, and as an offstage announcer for Wheel of Fortune. On the latter, he succeeded original announcer Charlie O'Donnell and held the role from 1980 until his death in 1988.

In 1985, Bob Stewart is trying to resign Jack Clark as announcer for Pyramid, but Stewart wanted to fail. Instead, Merv Griffin however wanted to resign Jack Clark as voice of Wheel of Fortune, but a search of tryout announcers landed to replace Jack Clark on Wheel, until Johnny Gilbert landed the job. Bob Stewart agreed to continue Jack Clark as voiceover for The $25,000 Pyramid.

Syndicators pick up the Jack Clark rendition of Now You See It
  • The 1985 attempt of Now You See It is a version of the 1974-75 game show hosted by Jack Clark, announced by Gene Wood, produced by Mark Goodson Productions and it was taped on October 19, 1985 at the ABC Television Center in Hollywood.

The Television Program Source however asked RKO stations, which included WOR-TV and KCAL-TV to pick up the show. Many other stations including WOIO to pick up the show for a September 8, 1986 start date.

Unfortunately the version was cancelled in 1987, being retooled into a version with the classic game format hosted by Chuck Henry two years later, on CBS in 1989.
