In the summer of 1912 (Italo-Turkish War) Italy occupied the Dodecanese.
What if Italy also took the North Aegean islands (see maps) from the Ottomans in the summer of 1912?
Just a few months later the First Balkan War broke out. How would this war be influenced by the Italian occupation of the islands geographically located and contested between Greece and the Ottoman Empire? Also could this step bring forward the (OTL) First Balkan War?
Alternatively/Additionally
Why did Italy not take those Islands in 1912 in OTL?
Was it because of diplomatic pressure from the other great powers?
Or did they have military concerns about occupying more islands?
Also, how would the argument of historical precedent work here (Former Venetian/ Genoese holdings)?
Thanks for any feedback and answers!
