Repost from older 7 years thread (note: i didn't join AH.com at that time), though with modifications. (Now i know that i should've not bumping 7 years old thread. Bumping seems to be a silly action afterall, and i realized that bumping these year old threads is known as necromancy and generally frowned upon, so i won't do these again) I've taken the idea part and conclusion from that post, and so here it is. But i am sorry that i am not going to quote this because i am lazy. Seriously though. Anyways, i had to note that i liked this idea, and i had to note that this idea seems to be never touched (i mean, never made into TL's) by AH.com until this date that i try to touch it and "advertise" this idea (note that i am advertising this is because i am sorry that i could be pretty bad in making TLs (see the conclusion part of the former post). You can point out any implausibilities here, though i am not going to modify it please take these implausibilities, seriously before making a TL adaptation from my ideas. I had to note that i like to contribute into AH.com and by showing my ideas i hope i would ever see a TL coming out from there...

Source thread: https://www.alternatehistory.com/forum/threads/an-italian-napoleon.166080/ (when i making this idea i've considered seriously of these early "analysis" posts before i make the idea, though. Anyways, the source post of below is located in page 3, anyways.)

I prefer a POD that Genoa sells it into Savoy-Sardinia, in which he quickly takes it in a conquest, seeing this as a potential for future Savoyard ambitions. Then...
Here is a storyline i would prefer...

In the next two years Napoleone is born, as the second living and third son of Carlo Maria di Buonaparte and his wife Maria Letizia Ramolino. His older brothers and sisters would be Napoleone (died after born), Maria Anna (died young), and Giuseppe (would be the influental King of Spain, Portugal and later King of England, Scotland and Ireland but would rather be troubled). His younger brothers and sisters are Maria Anna (died young), Maria Anna (again and died young), a stillborn son, Luciano (which would rule some northern German states), Maria Anna (final, never takes the name Elisa, and ruled some southern HRE principalities), Luigi (King of Netherlands, Belgium and later designated King of Georgia, Armenia (not Cilician), Greece, Bulgaria, Serbia-Bosnia and the Principalities of Wallachia, Moldavia (quickly becoming Romanian United Principalities), and Montenegro), Paolina, Carolina and finally Geronimo (which was designated King of Hungary, King of Bohemia, Archduke of Austria and all other Austrian crowns (note: both of these titles would be used in the event of Habsburg ever rebels again), King of Prussia (in case of Prussia ever rebelled), Grand Duke of Lithuania and Ruthenia, and Duke of Warsaw). Carlo would rise to greater heights in Savoy, eventually becoming dominant politician in Savoy-Sardinia in his late years, dying in 1785.
Afterwards in years after Savoy gained Corsica Napoleone would began to study in Florence, where is located the one of the top learned societies in Italy. He would be known there for his talent and after graduating there, he would go into Turin during the age of 15. During his education (probably in Florence), probably due to reading The Prince by Niccolò Machiavelli he began to adopt Italian nationalism in his views, but also due to reading some Roman works he began to feel need of restoring the "Roman" empire too. After graduating it in the age of 20 he returned to Sardinia, where he would participate in several battles with Sardinian and Savoyard forces on France (on the French Revolutionary Wars) where he shows his military genius (Note: Napoleone seems to be agreeing with the French revolutionary ideas at most, but for loyalty to his country, he dismissed it. Only during the time as a "Roman" Emperor he began to completely doing these ideas to power). Victor Amadeus is amazed by his talents, quickly becoming his favorite and rises very-very quickly to that. After getting the War of the Coalition against France into the victors in 1795, France lets Savoy-Sardinia absorb Genoa, in exchange of allowing Savoy-Sardinia to distract Austria by attacking their Italian possessions (with some French support). Though Victor Amadeus is reluctant to agree with it, Napoleone quickly agrees with it and due to the fact he became influental with the king, he managed to get the king agree with him, thus starting his ambitions to unite Italy and re-start Roman Empire. Kingdom of France, in this TL, is kept but would be wracked by chaos (which Napoleone would exploit very later on). Now with that, three months later he marshaled his troops towards Tuscany while declaring war against Austria (In the north, Victor Amadeus declared war on the Milan at same time). He quickly defeated the Tuscanian troops thanks to his genius. Lands of Este and Kingdom of Sicily-Naples quickly declared war against the Savoy due to this (and the fact that they are allies bound to the Austria), while Venice and Lucca declared war against Savoy-Sardinia sometime later because the fear of Italy being dominated by Savoy-Sardinia. Napoleone, though considered keeping himself in the North Italy, instead he decided to turn into Naples-Sicily, considering it a serious threat to the Sardinia. He quickly occupied Naples particularly very quickly despite the enemy being about as same strength to the Savoy-Sardinia - again due to his military genius. In the north, Victor Amadeus managed to score victories against Austrians to the north and and already began to raid Venice continously. Victor Amadeus, however refused to attack Este (though he defends it) after defeating Austrians due to him knowing that Parma belongs to Spain. He also wanted Spain to ally with him, thus due to his wants to acquire it he decided to sail for Spain to make diplomatic negoitations and treaties to be equally favorable for both. Before sailing in the next week, he quickly occupied Monaco and crushed revolts in Genoa. Then he sailed and quickly reached Spain in matter of weeks. There, he would go to Madrid then negoitated with Spain on the status of Duchy of Parma and about Austria. In Tuscany, Pro-Austrian rebels, Lucca and Este had began to quickly occupy Tuscany, reaching about 84% of the whole Tuscany before French intervention finally pushed it back to about 63%. As Victor Amadeus traveled and negoitated with Spain (in two months), Napoleone quickly defeated and occupied all of the Naples and Sicily, rapidly securing control of the region and constantly defeated the Venetian forces which supported Naples. However Napoleone's attack on Naples and Sicily would strain the relations to the Pope, due to these being papal fiefs, and this would later be the cause of Napoleone's attack of Papal States, starting the War of the Third Coalition against Italy later. In the north Venetians and Austrians due to lack of Victor Amadeus began to make some advances on Milan while Monaco and Genoa revolted numerous times, but defeated quickly. In Tuscany, Este, Pro-Austria and Lucca forcrs pushed back further, now about 21% of Tuscany occupied. Victor Amadeus tense negoitations with Spain resulted in a treaty where Spain is relinquishing control of Duchy of Parma into Savoy in return of declaring war against Austrians. Now with that Victor Amadeus quickly returns into Italy and arrived there about two weeks later. During this time Napoleone defeated all of remaining pro-Austrian forces and fully securing control of the territory, and he considered passing through the Legates and Pentapolis, but rejected it and he returned to Tuscany within weeks. French intervention pushed the Este coalition into only remaining 12% of Tuscany. Austria and Venice got 46% of Milan by then, though would be pushed back later by Victor Amadeus after he arrived back on Italy with several Spanish forces. With Spanish help he quickly pushed out Austrians and Venice from whole Milan in just two days. The presence of Spanish forces surprised Austria, and forced Austria to consider intervention with Russia. Russia accepted the intervention requests some weeks later due to being fearful of possible Kingdom of Italy forming and bound by Austria at the time. Complety secured Naples and destroyed most of the Venice's navy, he lets his subordinate admiral to occupy Venetian Dalmatia while he returned to Tuscany where in matter of just more than one week completely occupied Lucca, Modena and Reggio and takes control of it relatively fast. With Napoleone on North Italy, Austria began to take turn on the worse as rebellions began to engulf Austrian realms of continous war, which would gradually turn worser in the weeks, though beset by Austrian calls of intervention to Britain and the rest of Holy Roman Empire. As Napoleone ravages and completely occupies (ending the Republic of) Venice with Spain and France in the next week, Austria began to call for intervention of Holy Roman Empire. Though not in the interest of the states they quickly take it, fearful of united Italy. Russia jumps to help Austria beginning with this point and due to this in Austria Napoleone began to take defeats because of too much manpower, however over time he began to turn these defeats into victories due to his military studies of Holy Roman Empire, Russian and Austrian tactics as the War of the First Coalition against Italy ensued. As the War of the First Coalition against Italy ensued, Austrian calls of intervention reached Britain and Britain declares war against Spain and France. Portugal as a British ally would declare war against primarily Spain. Denmark (and Norway) would come to support Napoleone's efforts and allies. Sweden joins Austrian coalition. Napoleone would rise to become commanding general of Savoy "Italy" in this war. The war would last until 1497 where Napoleone, France (despite the chaos) and Spain finally defeated the British pushing them out from European homeland and the British sued for peace, and Napoleone's forces with Spain occupied Portugal, which would resist the dual Italy-Spanish occupation in the coming years. Napoleone also defeated Austrians and Russians, humiliating them and forced them to peace, promising to ally with newly formed Kingdom of Italy in the following years while Austria gave Küstenland, Carniola, and Croatian proper to Italian control. Sweden would be particularly though to control for Danish, Norwegian and Russians. However both managed to get Sweden's monarchy down and replaced with Danish king himself, restarting the Kalmar union once more, though Sweden would end up as the most rebellious parts of the Kalmar union (which troubled Danish). Russia seized Finland from Kalmar Union in exchange of Denmark-Norwegian help. In the Holy Roman Empire some states are shaken, particularly in Bavaria where Charles Theodore is forced to abdicate and Maximillian IV comes to power. Maximillian IV would be the most Italian-trusting ruler in HRE, occassionally helping Napoleone in some circumstances, and even electing Napoleone as Holy Roman Emperor later on (Note: Napoleone's ambition to become Holy Roman Emperor seem to be rooted on Napoelone's wants to restore Roman Empire). Charles Emmanuel IV, now King of Italy (note that in the treaty, all kingdoms and states except Papal States in the Italy they are fused into one state, thus would claim all of them), Cyprus, and Jerusalem (and remaining Crusader states, all of which (and the lost ones) would be taken (and revived for the lost ones) by Napoleone himself, with request to the Charles Emmanuel), do have a one daughter ITTL which was born in 1782 and this daughter would be married to Napoleone as a reward for his talents, however he considered to refuse it for some reason, as it could nurture Napoleone's ambitions. Due to fear of Napoleone's potential of coup, he decided to go through to marriage, making Napoleone his heir. Over time however these fears would be repelled as he would become the King's favorite in the future due to the crusade. After the war, Napoleone advised Charles to srengthen the Kingdom's military while in a secretive play to realize his ambition reached the Pope to start a crusade in March 1798 (he secretly thought that a crusade would weaken HRE, France, Austria and Spain so he would easily dominate them after attacking Papal States). Using conspiracy theories to force them, Pope finally called for a crusade against Ottomans AND Moroccans. With the help of Austria, France, Spain and the most of HRE joining (and surprisingly, Kalmar Union and Russia as a part of the alliance, due to closeness to Italy and bound to Italy respectively), Napoleon began his crusade in 19 May. Britain, fearing Italian power and to declare revenge from Spain, France and Italy declared war in support of Ottomans (and Moroccans in case of Spain) in the next month. Prussia feels the same and with some force managed to get all Protestant HRE states to rebel against Italy in the next month thus starting what is known as "War of the Second Coalition". To be continued...

That's my idea. I am sorry that i can't make timelines because i am too lazy to do it and also not very educated English, so i leave this idea to adapt it into your TL. If you were to adapt it, reply and tell me, so i would include a link to the TL. The continuation would be posted later....

Anyways, this time, not a necromantic post. Though my source ideas are connected to that old thread.
