After the dissolution of the Italian colonial empire, Libya was under separate British and French military administrations. Britain controlled the regions of Tripolitania and Cyeranica while France controlled Fezzan. There were plans for the colony to officially be partitioned into separate territories under British and French control, but in November 1949, the UN General Assembly passed a resolution declaring that Libya was to become a independent country before January 1st 1952. On December 24 1951, Libya officially proclaimed independence, with King Idris as it's monarch.

But what if Libya was never unified and was instead, officially partitioned between France and Britain?
