WI: Italian Cameroon

In 1932 and 1935, Italy demanded a League of Nations Mandate over Cameroon and a free hand in Ethiopia for support against Germany.

Discounting the demands regarding Ethiopia, what if it had been decided to cede Cameroon to Italy in exchange for support against Germany?

It's a bit too much and the Fascists would have been stretching even more by its acquisition.

On the plus side, this early siding of Italy with the Stresa front, especially if Dollfuss still lives, means Germany is more likely to try and entice the UK instead.

The British and French were willing to make a variety of concessions to Italy OTL. Is handing over a League of Nations Mandate that big a cession?

According to OTL, absolutely yes:
- France got Syria, Lebanon, half of Cameroon and Togoland
- UK got Palestine, Iraq (as a puppet), Tanzania, the above-mentioned halves
- Italy got then-irrelevant portions of desert in Libya, some adjustment to the Somalian borders, and formal recognization of stuff she already had. The actual bigger concessions were in the status of Italians in Malta and Tunisia (and the second, France eventually tried to rescind anyways).

Considering the British and French (especially French) were willing to concede quite a bit to Italy at the time to keep them on their side against Germany, I don't see the cession of Cameroon as that implausible.

It would be less offensive than Hoare-Laval, I would think.

Like what? OTL they got a strip of land here and there, but nothing major. Unless you can find proof of at least floated projects, I remain skeptical.
