this is rather OT, but one of my old Avalon Hill board games has the Israeli/Arab wars as the subject (on a tactical scale), and the most exciting scenario in it is definitely the crossing of the Canal... a tiny infantry force holds a beachhead on the west bank, while on the east side, a fair sized group of Israeli armor fights to clear a path to the Canal, protecting the huge rolling bridge (which moves slooooooowwwww).... huge but separated Egyptian forces attack from the north and south, trying to stop it... I don't think it's especially accurate, but it's definitely fun to play...
