WI: Israel hadn't invaded Palestine

If Israel and Palestine hadn't warred, and the Arab-Israeli war hadn't happened, would the Middle Eastern community be different?
Would Israel have the power on the world stage if it hadn't conquered most of Palestine and repelled most of its neighbouring countries during the same war?

You realise that Israel was attacked by every neighbour?

As it is titled now, it is flamebait, and things could get so heated in the long term that people end up getting kicked or even banned by posting in it.

Eh, Palestine is the old name of both modern day Israel and the Palestinian territories, it could be interpreted as Israel should not have been formed in the Middle East at all.

The Israeli occupation of the Palsetinian territories was the result of a long series of conflicts, some started by Israel and some by the Arabs. However there were Israelis who were critical about the occupation of Gaza and the West Bank in the beginning. If Israel had only fought defensive warsd and not occupied more territory, the West Bank would be a part of Jordan and Gaza a part of Egypt.

Indeed I do, which is why the term "repelled most of it's neighbouring countries..." in the original post.

Also, will amend the title, just realised how tactless it is, but I can't. *sigh*

I assumed you meant the 1948 demarcation line. But it sounds like you mean the 1967 war? What if Israel hadn't fought back? Which is it?

Well, the ball is really in the Arab court in 1948. If the Palestinians (and more importantly the other front-line states) had accepted the 1948 UN partition line as the foundation for a two-state solution for palestinian independence, I can't imagine anybody except arms dealers and radical hate-mongers who would be worse off today Israel would be accepted by its neighbors and not be occupying tons of arab land with unhappy residents. The Palestinians would have a viable state - or the west bank, Gaza, and other predominantly arab places would be absorbed into Egypt and Jordan. Sure, there would be some dispossed people (on both sides, probably), but Israel would almost certainly not have become the militaristic parody of itself it is today and the entire Middle East might be an oasis of Abrahamic love and peace. A little sarcasm perhaps, but anything is better than what we have now.

Isreal didn't invade Palestine, the so-called Palestinians were the last in a long line of invaders of ISREAL. The Isreali's have only ever fought in self defence except in 1956 at that can be blamed on the UK and France.

The Brits decided it might be a good idea to settle the jewish people in a land which was already settled. A confrontation was only a matter of time and the Israelis were not always the hapless victims. It's just fubar'd.
