WI: Isabeau de Bretagne Lives

Catherine of Navarre can marry an Armagnac, however, Louis the Spider hates the Armagnacs very much..

Yeah, but by the time of Catherine's OTL marriage in 1484, the Spider King was dead, and his daughter was in control of the regency.

Catherine of Navarre, in this scenario, could marry Charles, Count of Angouleme.

An interesting match to be sure, but how would the factions (Agromontese vs Beaumontese) at the Navarrese court feel about this? And would Angoulême be in any more of a position to help Catherine fight than say the Albrets of OTL? AFAIR, the Angoulêmes possessed the smallest patrimony of the French royals (when placed alongside the Orléans, the Anjous and the Bourgognes), so it wasn't until they were next in line to the throne and Louise of Savoy was scheming for her son and daughter, that anyone was actually concerned about them.

Okay, thanks for the discussion all.

Who else would be on the shortlist to marry Isabeau if the French don't have a candidate (Comte de Clermont) and Jean d'Albret is unsuitable for some reason? She'd be a bit young for any of the French princes du sang (Louis XII, the Comte d'Angoulême, the dauphin etc), or too old for the others (the king of Navarre (not a prince du sang, but closely affiliated to France, duc de Nemours or the duc d'Alençon). Maybe the prince d'Orange?

Then, next follow-up question: what if Anne has her OTL problems of having a surviving male heir, but Isabeau has no such problem. Obviously Anne is going to attempt to betroth her daughter (Claude, Marguerite or Renée) to Isabeau's son. How might this affect the French political scene in the 16th century?
