WI: Irish Revolution of 1848

The 1848 Irish uprising largely failed due to poor organization and leadership. The Young Ireland Movement's charismatic leader, Thomas Davis had died three years earlier at the rip old age of 30.

What if Davis had survived, became more radicalized and influential during the Potato Famine. He would be the leader of the 1848 revolt. Where there any chance his brand of pan-Irish nationalism would take root?
