I know that the Iraqis still had stockpiles of them, and they had the capability to cause thousands of casualties within minutes. During pre-war negotiations, James Baker warned Saddam Hussein not to use them in case of war, reminding him of US nuclear bombs. I still wonder how the war would have gone if the Iraqis employed Scuds filled with nerve agents against Coalition positions.
Would the United States have really gone nuclear? That would open a huge can of worms, especially since the Soviet Union was still around, and it would be a case of hitting civilians in response to attacks on military targets.
