Wi Intel® microprocessor Commodore

Well, it's one thing putting the hardware in there, but do people know what to do with it?

Commodore 64 had a great scene of thousands of teenagers and early-20's just programming games, gubbins and music in their bedrooms. Nowadays programs take hundreds of programmers and millions of pounds to create... So I suppose once people realise the extent of the performance of the hardware, gaming and programming will become dominated by the megacorps sooner, stifling creativity and stagnating everything. A prematurely nipped computer boom :/

Winter and Summer Games look a bit better?
Games like Night rider dont get made?
Sid Meiers Pirates with better graphics?
Silent Service with better graphics?
A computer that you need more than a keyboard, casetterecorder and TV to use?

the Intel® microprocessor is put in Commodore 64 computers.
What effects of on technology.

First of all, which Intel microprocessor are you talking about? 8086 was most common at the time. 8088 was a bit cheaper. 80286 came out that year.

In any case, I think it would have slowed the adoption of personal computers by home users. Intel processors were much more expensive than MOS processors. I've heard that Woz considered using an Intel processor in one of the early Apple computers. He instead went with the MOS chip because it was more like Motorola processors, many of which were superior to Intel, but much cheaper.

With the C-64 being much more expensive than OTL, I expect other companies, like Sinclair, Osbourne, and Canon have better sales, but the market is much smaller.

This would probably impact MOS enough that they would have to scale back production. This would impact other 65xx based systems, driving their price up and their availability down. This may also impact video gaming. Not only is the C-64 more expensive, it is likely to impact the NES. It used a Ricoh chip based on the 6502. The Atari 7800 also used a 6502 based chip.

Increased sales for Intel means increased R&D money. They are likely to push aside Zilog and other small, but technically advanced rivals earler. I would expect to see this impact Sega's Master System and many other Z80 based systems. This may be hampered by the slower adoption of consumer electronics.

Overall, I see consumer electronics being far less important than in OTL. The high price would mean lower sales. Increased competition could harm sales of the IBM 5100. This means less influence for Microsoft. It could mean more surviving corporate platforms today in home computers beyond Microsoft and Apple, though all would be much smaller than most computer companies today. I would expect a computer store in 2008 to look much more like a computer store in 1986 in terms of available platforms and software. In terms of technology, it would likely be closer to the early 1990s level.
