WI: Iberian Union?

So here is the scenario. Castille, after integrating Aragon into the country, turns its sights on Portugal. After some warring and a dead King the Portuguese are forced to adopt the Castilian King as their own in 1490 and a Union between the two is formed. Portugal's colonies abroad decide against still taking orders from Iberia and go their own way. What are the consequences of this happening?

The mega Spain tries taking them over. In 1490 they didn't really have anything as this is 2 years before columbus. Portugal might have a forts in Africa and they can't really go their own way.

The other powers might try preventing this spain as it is getting very powerful.

As of 1490, Portugal's very few colonial holdings were in no shape to go there own way. They would surrender with Portugal, imho.

Without the need to compete for the passage to India, *Iberia takes the Africa route to the Indian ocean. Columbus probably sails for England, finding a northern route to the Americas. While the Iberians do eventually stumble on Brazil, the conquista of Mexico, the Incas, and the Caribbean is butterflied away.

Castille/Aragon doing that is going to have a really bad surprise.
While the OTL Iberian Union was realized with Spain being clearly hegemonic in Europe and Americas, in the 1490's not only Portugal mastered Atlantic deep enough for disallowing Castille the possibility to follow its steps in Africa.

Furthermore, if Castille would have attempted something, it would be to prevent such union, not hastening it. Without the death of Alfonso of Portugal, it's Portugal that would have a strong claim on Castille/Aragon, not the reverse, and Castillan nobility clearly didn't wanted such thing to happen.

Critically giving that Aviz dynasty already tried to get Castille, during Alfonso V's reign. If something it points that Castillans weren't interested on an union, and that Portugal was pretty much able to hold face to Castille in war.

Assuming that every Castillan/Aragonese noble, from king to knights, all drink White Spirit and dissolve their brain to act on Portugal, Leroy Jenkins way, you'd end with a switch of alliances, beneficing Portugal.
Not only the old Anglo-Portuguese alliance, but probably giving a good opportunity for Charles VIII to turn against Aragonese interests in Italy and in Spain.
