WI Hypatius becomes Roman Emperor in 532 AD?

In January 532 severe riots erupted in Constantinople against Emperor Justinian I and his ministers... The rioters went as far as to proclaim Hypatius nephew of the former Emperor Anastasius I as their new Emperor...
Justinian was frightened and made prepearations to flee the city but in the last minute he was stopped by Empress Theodora who with an eloquent speech convinced him to stay and fight for his throne...
WI Empress's speech went unheed and Justinian having lost his nerve abandoned the crown? How would be Hypatius reign? Could Justinian gather enough support to regain his throne?

Im not sure of this story was true, but allegedly Anastasius had three nephews and was not sure which one would succed him, so he had three couches prepared and placed something underneath one of them. When he summoned in his three nephews including Hypatius, one of them sat on an unaltered couch, then another two sat on the same unaltered couch together. Then next morning Jusin, chief of guards was summoned or something and sat on the altered couch.

Just have Hypatius get a little more lucky and he can be undisputed Emperor alot earlier

Nah... Just a nasty rumour implying that at least 2 of Anastasius's nephews had an incestual homosexual relationship (thats why they shared the same chair)... This rumour aimed in discrediting Anastasius I (by presenting him as unable to make a decision and leaving matters to chance) and his potential heirs (by presenting them as immoral homosexuals). Only Anonymous Valesianus makes a referrence to this nasty "gossip". Justin became Anastasius's successor after the latter's sudden death in the night of 8/9 July 518 by acclamation in the Hippodrome in the morning of 9 July after he was suggested by Magister Officiorum Celsinus (dont remember his name actually.. i might be wrong)

I'm writing a TL on it- a TL, that, personally, I think is of much higher quality than Isaac's Empire. Suffice it to say we get a Belisarian Dynasty, a surviving Gothic Italy, and a very unexpected wank. I'll debut it in a year or so. :)

Hypatius was a supporter of Monophisism or more aligned to Orthodoxy?

Cant remember right now... His uncle (Anastasius I) was a monophysite i guess he could share the same views with him... On the other hand however Justin I and Justinian I werent monophysites and seemed to get along pretty well with Hypatius and his brothers Pompeius and Probus... If Hypatius was a monophysite i tend to believe that he didnt expressed his views publically

My guess for the POD is Theodohad doesn't overthrow the Roman Puppet on the Gothic Throne. then Italy is spared the destruction of the Gothic wars.

Theodohad was actually brought onto the throne after the death of Athalaric, by the late king's mother, Amalasuntha. He later had her arrested and, eventually, executed, after she made plans to take much of the Gothic treasury and flee to Constantinope.
She wasn't exactly a Roman Puppet, but did really heavily on Constantinople for her support, as she was deeply unpopular with much of the Gothic nobility. And she wasn't really overthrown, as she didn't hold much official power (although she did try amass unofficial power, such as gettign Theodahad elected in the first place), and one could make the argument she was committing treason.
Although her arrest and eventual overthrow did give Justinian a causi belli to invade Italy, but as the overthrow and execution of the Orthodox King of the Vandals did the same in North Africa.
