PoD: In September of 1988, instead of hitting the Yucatan Peninsula, Hurricane Gilbert moves more north and, after entering the Yucatan Channel, goes northeast...towards the Tampa-St. Petersburg area, hitting just to the north of it on September 16, 1988.
Effects, anyone?
(I was living in Corpus Christi when Hurricane Gilbert was forecast to hit South Texas. It was a bad storm, IMO.)
