WI Hundred Days Reform Succeeds?

What if the Hundred Days Reform, conducted by the Chinese Guangxu Emperor, succeeded in its goals of modernising China to Western levels? In what ways could Dowager Cixi's coup be stopped? What effects would this have on the wider world?

A lot of questions. What can you come up with?

Stopping the coup is the easy part. It only succeeded because Yuan Shikai, who had ostensibly sided with the reformers, turned coat and joined Cixi's faction instead. Have Yuan remain on the reformers' side--hardly out of loyalty, but because the Guangxu emperor outbids the dowager empress--and the movement would be allowed to proceed unimpeded by the court's conservatives.
