WI-Holy Terror released as a Batman story

IOTL, Frank Miller originally planned to write his execrable Holy Terror comic as a Batman story. Fortunately for Batman fans, DC rejected this, forcing Miller to overhaul the comic as an original story. But what if DC was insane enough to allow it to be written and released as a Batman story?

Frank Miller will go down as the man who ruined Batman, by making him an insane bigot, and he will not be allowed to write the character again. He'll probably bounce back (even though he wrote Holy Terror, DC is letting him write a new Batman story), but because he used a popular character, he will likely suffer worse.

It'd sell more than Holy Terror did because Batman - which means EVEN MORE people would think it sucks. Batman could survive. Miller might not.

Then again, DC's editors (and doing the comic years earlier) might cut out some of the dafter guff.

Tying his bigoted screed to the Batman character will naturally give it more exposure, meaning more infamy and condemnation and less likely to just fade away. Expect Holy Terror to be regularly cited as one of the worst Batman stories of all time.

Batman will be fine. Batman is just too major a character-- with so many writers giving their own interpretations of him, across several forms of media-- for one particular take of him to really affect his overall standing. Especially when it's a non-canon, one-shot story.

But Miller is done. I can't see him being given free reign with the character after this, and certainly we wouldn't be seeing a Batman follow-up called The Master Race as we are now...

Gone Fishin'
Frank Miller will never be approached to write for DC again, period. The Editor involved will be sacked. The book will not be given further publication. It will have a lot more press attention, and the general view of Batman will be worse; he'll survive, but the story will be burned out of DC's recent memories.

Alternatively, if he was allowed to make it a Batman story, I can see him moderating the story a bit, either out of common sense (what little he still has), or due to DC twisting his arm.

Holy Terror is seen as yet another shark jumping attempt by Frank to recapture his success with DKR and Year One, and many a meme shall be spawned from his inevitably bad writing.
