WI Hitler was a Communist instead

What if Hitler was a communist rather than a fascist? Could he have taken over Germany and made it into a communist union of republics?

What sort of POD are you thinking of to make him a communist? And if he were a communist (especially for that time period) wouldn't he have gone for a more militant route rather than entering politics? I know his entry into politics OTL was fairly militant nevertheless (Beer Hall Putsch and all) but I feel that if he were a communist, he might be even more inclined to use violence to get power.

Indeed. Also, Hitler got into power becaue he was not a Communisit and was firmly anticommunist, the Molotov-Ribbentrop Pact notwithstanding.

Honestly I don't know. But it seems like economically-trashed 'Jewish capitalist dominated' Weimar Germany could be the perfect breeding ground for communism. And Hitler is an ironic candidate for Chairmanship.
