WI: Hitler never goes on rampage through Europe

Let's say that Hitler never really gets into politics. He becomes a general instead and isn't even slightly nuts unlike OTL. Consequences?

General Hitler is nearly ASB. Given his family background, his chances to become a high officer the A-H monarchy are practically zero. In pre-WWI Bavaria or the rest of Germany, as well, as he was not even a German citizen.
After WWI, the number of German officers was capped by the ToV, and Hitlers chances are zero now, as well.

So nuts or completely sane, forget Germany and Austria, and for obvious reasons the UK and France as well. Hitler becoming a Marxist pre-WWI and somehow ending up as high officer in the Red Army is negated by your PoD.
So the only, very, very slight chance is Hitler emigrating to the US in the 1908 to 1910 period, turning his life around and starting a successful military career during WWI in the USArmy.

But do not forget that a Hitler who does not become interested in politics will simply remain a lying, thieving slacker in Vienna, despising bread-winning jobs and picturing himself as superior artist while defrauding his relatives. Hardly officer material.

Obviously he accidently put it in the wrong forum, that happens. In any case I can't see Hitler becoming a general. He didn't have education or background or the military skills necessary for that. He wound up a corporal at the end of WWI for a reason. If he had any military talent whatsoever he would have at least made sergeant or better yet an officer of some rank.

Hitler was born before 1900, so I assume that's why it's here.

Which leads to a rather interesting idea, which belongs rather in the post 1900 forum: "Given that after WWI there was widespreaed disdain for the older generation that started the war and rather pointed youth fetishism, WI a charismatic leader born in, say, 1901 managed to achieve a position of power over Germany in the 1930s?"

Well, not really general but a higher ranking military officer. He doesn't need to have a military career though.

How about if Hitler joins the young Nazi party and instead of choosing to become a political leader instead undertakes a more backroom role like becoming an early leader of one of the parties militia like the SA. Sort of a slightly less devisive Ernst Rohm and who leads the group away from its demise after the purging in the 1930s. Seen as more loyal to the ruling Nazi leadership the SA with Hitler as a notedly skilled and courageous leader with a reputation built up in the street battles against the communists the SA is either merged with the regular German army as proposed in OTL or transforms itself into a loyalist state recognised party militia with Hitler at the fore. Hitler may never end up as a field marshall but maybe a unit commander in the equivilent of a party Ss or Blackshirt unit or whatever its called TTL.

Either that or Hitlers parents get sick of Europe and move to South America and Hitler gains entry to the Bolivian Officers school and becomes a unit commander in the gran chaco war.
