Well, no actually. He received a hefty sum as monthly allowance. I am not sure if that was his fathers pension, or his fathers saving, but he was very far from being penniless. Hitler conjured the myth of his impoverished street roaming life for purpose of propaganda, when in reality he had enough money for, if not comfortable, then at least a tolerable living.
