WI: Hitler Does Escape to Japan

What if Adolf Hitler in the waning months of the front in Europe during World War II, fled by airplane or U-boat to Japan to escape Allied forces?

The threads title is misleading, it sounds as if Hitler had a plan to escape to Japan. Honestly, Hitlers planes would most likely need to refuel and i can't think of any place that he could safely refuel without being captured. Also there was very likely the chance of the plane being shot down by Soviet forces. I doubt that Hitler in the bunker , would have been able to escape the city, and I doubt that he would have been able to board a u-boat. Also, even if he had, Hitler was on a ton of drugs, and would need his doctors on the boat as well, and I'm unsure if they could hold all the people. And even if they did, like with a plane, they would need to refuel and like I said before they would need to find several places for refueling.

So basically no.

Welp, plane is out - no way to get there without refuelling. As for U-boat, well that's risky as hell given the fact that the Allies own the seas. And why exactly would he do so? It would mean being out of contact with the fronts for at least a month or more, and Grofaz seemed to believe that things might possibly turn around right up until the last proverbial minute.

A lot depended on whether you believe the tale of a Speer story about the Ju 390 flight to Japan, if you do then Frosty the Snow Hitler is a thing in Japan in 1945 having come by overflying the North Pole.

Though he would probably commit suicide in disgust at how un-German the Japanese were or something.

Either he commits suicide with Japan's defeat as it was too late at that time for either side to make a difference or gets captured when Japan loses.

And we might even see operation downfall and land invasion to capture Hitler and his inner circle over the use of nukes.

We would probably have all the Nazi and Japanese leaders that didn't off themselves in one war crimes trial accounting for all the Axis crimes in World War II in both theaters over separate tribunals at Nuremberg and Tokyo.

If captured alive by the Americans in Japan, Hitler would probably be shipped back to Germany to be tried for war crimes at Nuremberg unless Mac can find some way to blame him for the Bataan Death March or something in which case Charles Rexroad gets to demonstrate his particular set of skills at Adolph's expense.

He is captured or commits suicide when Japan surrenders.

I expect that the Allies would be able to track Hitler's U-boat as it sails to Japan. Since Hitler personally won't contribute anything to the Japanese war effort, it makes sense for the Allies to let him escape, because victory in the Pacific was assured by this point. They can arrest Hitler along with Japanese war criminals, if he doesn't commit suicide first.

...unless he boards one of the I-400 class and sails for parts unknown. ;) :p

This is yet another WI Hitler wasn't Hitler scenario.

Hitler had a number of opportunities to break out, the last being on April 26th.

He didn't WANT to survive. His one burning desire by then was to avoid capture, especially by the Soviets.

Wasn't he about fucked health-wise by this point? Hadn't he been poisoned, or had Parkinson's or a stroke or some shit? This seems to be neglected by the escape plan people.

Heard some plausable facts that a fi stork was to fly into berlin and smuggle hitler to argentina in the last couple of days before the russians took the city but unconfurmed reports about it?

Hitler was an unhealthy man at this point, but as far as I know he didn't have any terminal illnesses. A long voyage at sea, removed from sycophant drug pushing doctors and the stresses of micromanaging a world war, might have done him well.

I don't think some understand when Hitler said 'victory or death' he meant it.

Hitler was shocked that Paulus didn't kill himself after losing, after all he said blowing out your brains is so much easier then the old method of running yourself through with a sword.

Even if Hitler wants to escape, Japan is hardly his best option whatever his motive. If he wants to continue the resistance against the Allies, then travelling to the other end of the world to a place where he would be basically powerless and looks like it is also on the losing end of the war is probably not the best bet. He could just go into hiding somewhere in Bavaria or somewhere and direct a resistance movement if he wants to do that.
If he just wants to live, then he could just go to South America like many other Nazis did. He might even try to make his way to Spain, though surely Franco would hand him over to the Allies to secure good relations with them at a time when there is a talk of an invasion of Spain.

Best place the hide is in plain sight, but he would have to get his health in order, change his appearance and then vanish into the German populace.

It would be cool if his escape plane tried to fly over the North Pole, wrecked in the Article circle.

Treasure hunters would go on North Pole expeditions to find his body. Wonder what they'd do with it?
