WI Hitler dead just after Munich, new leadership keeps to treaty

Suppose something happened (preferably not assassination) to HITLER in late 1938.

The new leadership does NOT occupy the rest of Czechoslovakia.

I assume it is still a dictatorship and life for Jewish people is bad but no mass murder policy.

How long would that regime have lasted?

Would Hitler end up with a relatively ok reputation?

Who does take charge?

If Hitler has a plane crash or something and Goering takes over and concentrates on partying hard rather than conquering the world, I suspect Hitler gets remembered as one of the greatest of all German statesmen. After all, he's not only wiped out the humiliation of Versailles but greatly expanded Germany's borders and mostly peacefully at that. He'd be much more of a Putin-style ambiguous figure than the embodiment of evil he became.

Germany was going bankrupt soon thanks to the Nazi rearmament policy. It needed to plunder or change it's economic policy ASAP. Depending on what they do, Hitler is probably bound to be seen in a more positive light than those who come after him. If they implement austerity then Hitler will be seen as a more benign person, if they go bankrupt, then Hitler will be seen as a more competent leader. They could easily go all North Korea to try and keep the inevitable revolts down.

If the right person comes to power then this could also be combined with a genocide of German Jews as they would be blamed for the problems in the Reich. There could be controversy today if this was what Hitler truly wanted and how much of it would be his fault (like the arguments over how much did Stalin's USSR represent what Lenin and Marx were working towards).

There could be a coup if the Nazi popularity manages to fall without the war and further land grabs. There was already one in the works by the army when they were about to go to war with the Czechs. The only reason it wasn't launched was the Western Allies giving Germany what it demanded and thus avoiding the war.
